Extraordinary flexibility and convenience? Of course – that’s also part
of Balanced Design.
PERFORMANCE WITH VIRTUALLY ANY DISC
One of the most desirable qualities of a DVD player today is the ability to extract maximum enjoyment from almost any disc. And the RDV-1040 does not disappoint. In addition to conventional DVD-Video discs, the RDV-1040 also plays an array of recordable DVD video formats: DVD-R, DVD+R/RW, and DVD-R/RW. Video CD and SVCD formats aren’t forgotten either. The RDV-1040 also handles JPEG-format photo discs! The player is also an excellent choice for audio sources. The RDV-1040 plays conventional music CDs with aplomb and reads your favorite CD-R/RW discs – even those holding MP3 and WMA-encoded music files! So it’s the per fect
home component for all those custom discs you’ve already made for your car!
THE INSIDE STORY
Rotel does not believe in the old adage that says “Beauty is only skin deep”. In keeping with our Balanced Design approach, every internal assembly is exhaustively evaluated before inclusion in the final “bill of materials,” the
master document that lists every part that makes up the RDV-1040. Of course, any product’s per formance begins with its power supply and the RDV-1040 is no exception. An advanced pulse circuit and individually regulated supply stages generate optimal voltages for every circuitry block. The internal microprocessor, a National Semiconductor NDV-8604, handles the number-crunching necessary for optimal per formance. Critical D/A converters – both audio and video – show the care in choosing only the best. Advanced 24-bit/192 kHz DACs handle all the audio data to provide unprecedented headroom and conversion accuracy. And the high-bit/wide-bandwidth video DAC brings a level of sharpness and precision once reserved for DVD players many times the RDV-1040’s price. Downstream, phase-optimized operational amplifiers and discrete components take over to deliver crystal-clear audio and video signals to other system components.
CONNECTING TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD
The RDV-1040 provides more-than-ample connectivity. For digital audio, both coaxial and optical outputs deliver PCM, Dolby Digital, and DTS bitstreams and they’re supplemented by stereo analog outputs. Video outputs include
composite, S-, and component connections with interlaced and progressive capability.
THE CONVENIENCE OF BALANCED DESIGN
Balanced Design isn’t just about sheer per formance. It’s also about the conveniences you want in home entertainment components. Locating a particular scene or special effect? Slow Search and variable speed scan will
make that job easier than ever. Strobe Play will help you analyze fast-moving scenes. Six-step Zoom Play is your “video microscope” as it lets you zero in on just the action you want to see. The Resume function lets you “bookmark”
any section of the disc for easy access later. The Video Fine Processor makes viewing even more enjoyable as it lets you adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, tint, sharpness and other picture parameters. Then there’s the new
high-resolution graphical user inter face (GUI) for more accurate status checks with far less eyestrain.
A full-function remote control completes the picture. And it’s all wrapped in a slim, stylish chassis that’s just a bit more than 2” high. The RDV-1040. Positive proof that Rotel takes per formance – and your home
entertainment pleasure - seriously.
*Some CD and DVD recorders use non-standard or proprietary formats. Rotel does not guarantee that all recordable discs will play.
